Stephen King, literature or not?

Writing in general and suggestions on writing for Shroud.

See, I didn't like Duma Key that much. I don't know why. It was a good read, and it was actually enjoyable, but...something about it didn't grab me or make me feel any more drawn in than usual.

I think his current pool of talent, the stuff that shows what a great, and versatile, writer he still is lies in his short stories.

I liked Lisey's Story. Felt heavier, somehow - but still King. I haven't read Cell yet.

I personally may love his short stories even more than his novels, but perhaps it's a phase I'm going through at the moment as a reader.

I think King's speech, transcribed in the HWA's On Writing Horror book, pretty much summed up my view on the majority of the literary form's more higher-than-thou contributors' little whinge; for me at least.

Just 2 cents and a sixpence.

Having a hunger for both eccentric literature and modern every-Joe worded horror, I find they each fill a certain degree of my reading needs. They just need to hug. One big'ol ginormous "You write? I write! Let's hug!" kind of non-sexual grope hug.
