You just reminded me of a short story Straub wrote called, "The Juniper Tree". I read that, it must have been, over ten years ago. And it still sticks with me, as unsettling as it is. I'll have to check out more of his stuff.

So you must get your hand on all kinds of goodies before they hit the shelves, eh? Lucky! :D
Wild, dark times are rumbling toward us, & the prophet who wishes to write a new apocalypse will have to invent entirely new beasts; beasts so terrible that the ancient animal symbols of St. John will seem like cooing doves & cupids in comparison.
