|
|
This may be our most ambitious project yet. This is to support Nate Kenyon's efforts to raise money to fight cancer. Sheldon S. Higdon suggested an anthology, and this was an idea I had floating around. The regional orientation will help me sell it to local bookstores.
Tentative Title: Northern Chill
100 Terrifying New England Tales to Tell Around a Campfire
Guidelines: Flash fiction (no more than 700 words) told in the FIRST person (to allow readers to re-tell the story) set in a New England location. The anthology will be separated into 4 sections (tentative titles):
Haunts- Stories of ghosts, specters, and phantoms
Beasts- Stories of monsters, critters, and wild animals
Humans- Stories of eccentric people, serial killers, mad men
Other Oddities- everything else
Format: Submit as a Word .doc or .rtf attachment.
SUBJECT LINE MUST SAY: "SUBMISSION--NORTH--TITLE"
Multiple submissions allowed and encouraged
No reprints
No simultaneous subs
Payment: (.01 cent a word or you can donate your stories)
Proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society
I will try to get this on the Web site soon.
LOOKING FOR COVER ART.
Please, feel free to give me your thoughts.

It's a great idea. I'd be happy to float it on my blog if you like. _________________ Christa M. Miller

The guidelines to the antho sounds really great, Tim. It will be big indeed. And I'll pass this info to some writer friends I know as well. _________________ Soon All Your Fears Will Come True!

| Just wrote one and got it sent in. I figured I'd do a story set in Kingsport, one of HP Lovecraft's trio of haunted New England towns. Hope you like it!

I hate to be nebulous, but the answer is "until we have enough?" _________________ Tim Deal

Hi.
I'll be submitting two stories, maybe three for the anthology. Also, I didn't print out the submission guidelines. Can I send them as attachments in my email? And where do I send them exactly?

That is without a doubt one of the stories that I would end up creating and going "Oh god, what am I doing, trying to write a movie for late night sci-fi?"
Believe me, I have a few ideas that go into the "Maybe when I need to sell my soul" box, like the adventures of Cedar-jack, the crazy redneck who kills chicks in swimming suits for no apparently plot inspired reason.
COMING SOON TO THE CW!!!!
But seriously I got a few stories that I think you'd like, so I'll send in a couple more in the next few days. Thanks for the chance and for doing this for the cause. The best thing anyone can do for someone dealing with cancer is to just acknowledge them and say "anything I can do to help out?"
It means way more than you'd ever really know, trust me!
