Shroud Book Review Blog Open

Postby KevinLucia on Mon Feb 16, 2009 1:45 pm

Hey folks - I'll be posting monthly horror/dark fiction reviews at the Shroud Book Review Blog below:

http://shroudmagazinebookreviews.blogspot.com/

So I'd love it if people came by, left a comment, and spread the word. By the end of the day, I'm going to thresh out details for a "contest" of sorts, the prize being a grab-bag of Leisure ARC's, review copies, and other ARC's I may have. They'll be used, of course...but they'll be free! :D Free is always good.

Looks outstanding... I had to check twice because it looked identical to the Shroud Blog. Nice work sir! I have blogged about your blog... lol. It's a great addition.

It should be ready to "go" in a few days. I just need to make a few tweaks. I'm still not sure what to do about a contest. I've got tons of stuff to give away, but not sure who'd really want it, so for now I think I'm just post reviews and blitz them on Myspace, Facebook, and The Haunt. I've created an Amazon reviewer profile for it as well.

T'anks. Here's the Amazon profile page:

Hopefully, this will boost Shroud's visibility a bit. Obviously, I'll need to toe a fine line between honest reviews and positivity, but usually if you're honest about a novel's shortcomings, then end it on the upswing with reasons why a reader should try a book for themselves, everyone is fine with that. That way you're being honest, professional, but not hacking anyone off. Since I started writing book reviews four years ago, I've developed a simple policy: be honest, be fair, be professional, and positive. Also, if I can't give a book at least a "3 star" rating, then I'm not going to review it. Won't do anyone any good, then.
