Hi everyone! My name is Robert Essig. I live in southern California with my wife, 8 month old son and our dog. I've been writing for a few years now, sending my stories to various publishers at a madman's rate (I always have something like 20 stories in various slush piles). 2009 had been good to me as far as sales and acceptances. I have written a book that I am editing, and have written about 100 pages of a second book. I am currently collecting stories for an anthology I am editing for Library of the Living Dead Press called Through the Eyes of the Undead.

I recognize some folks from other forums. Good to see you! I'm making the rounds, planting my seeds here and there.

Shroud is a great magazine, Tim. I just got issue 7 two days ago and it's awesome! Glad to be a part of the Shroud underground.

Robert, so nice to "meet" you and welcome to the Shroud Underground. I am sure we would all love to hear about the anthology you are working on and what the submission guidelines are! Thank you for the kind words about Shroud. We've built up a really tight team here and i welcome you to be part of it!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

As far as the anthology goes... Since I'm a little late to the party here, there isn't much time to submit as the deadline has been set for November 30th. It is listed on Duotrope and Ralan for those of you who want to see if you have something to submit, but the 30th is just around the corner.

Wow, I didn't know issue 7 was already out. Are we all keeping it a secret for some reason? Can I play?

It showed up in the mail a couple days ago. The first issue of my subscription, and an excellent issue at that.

Hi, Lee. No, not Zoetrope. I've been known to frequent the Library of the Living Dead forum. I'm also a member of the Permuted Press, Graveside Tales, and Lame Goat Press forums.

I'll have to check out Zoetrope.

Hello all. My name is John. I live in Rome, Georgia with my wife and stepdaughter. I am currently working on two novels. The first, called The Shadow People, was started in 2005 (yeah, I know that's quite a while back) and due to a horribly long drawn out divorce, I am still working on it. My second novel, The Old Royal, is still in its first draft. I love to read and write. While I enjoy many different genres, my true love is horror. I ordered a copy of Shroud Magazine #6 to see if it was worthwhile. I found it a superb read! I look forward to reading more of Shroud in the future. In addition to my novels-in-progress, I've written numerous short stories, which I hope to eventually get published.

Other things about me: I was working as a computer programmer until I was laid off in January '09, so I decided to take time off to work on my writing. Prior to working with computers, I held a number of different occupations, namely, construction laborer, fry cook, and firefighter/EMT. I was in the Army during the first Gulf war as a helicopter mechanic. I play bass guitar, although not very well. I love a wide array of music, but my favorite music is rock/metal. There's so many classes and subclasses of music now, that I don't even know how to classify what I prefer. Some of my favorite bands are Type O Negative, Obituary, and Seether.

I look forward to lurking on the message boards and seeing what others have to say, occassionally putting in my two cents.

Thought I ought to stop lurking here and introduce myself. I've met many of you through Facebook and Livejournal and shared the TOC of Northern Haunts with many of you as well, but for those I haven't met yet here it goes: I'm a Canadian ESL teacher working and living in Tainan City, Taiwan (hometown of Ang Lee). I speak broken Chinese so most of my communication is a strange series of hand gestures and grunts. I write SF, Fantasy, and Horror but most of these fall into the category of dark. Once in a while I'll take a stab at humor and I do get a kick out of writing it, but it does tend to be harder to place (especially my twisted brand of humor). Anyway, I've been writing seriously (as in submitting) for about a year and a half now. Before that I used to just enter contests. My first success was placing in the 75th Annual Writer's Digest Writing Competition. After that I figured I ought to get serious about writing, started my blog, and basically fell onto a shitload of online resources I never knew existed. My first sale was to the Northern Haunts Anthology (I was quite literally jumping up and down), so needless to say I'm a big fan of Shroud. I have another story out in Issue #7 "The Skin Off the Back of the Cheshire Cat" which I wrote for the Humpty Dumpty Flash Fic contest. I also have made sales to the Cthulhu 2012 Anthology and Necrotic Tissue. I have a couple novels under my belt, but looking to get a bit more experience writing before I subject myself to agonizing horror of writing a third. ;-) Glad to be a member of La Shroud Familia!

PS: I blog over at Livejournal if you're interested in paying a visit or want to drop me a line.
