NORTHERN HAUNTS UPDATE!

Postby shroud on Mon Aug 25, 2008 1:15 pm

I want to apologize for not being as responsive on this board as I have been in the past. I won't bore you with a lengthy excuse, just suffice to say that between baby, wife, teenager heading to high school, full time work, and Shroud, I have been a bit busy.

I promise to make myself available to you more frequently.

Now for the updates:

NORTHERN HAUNTS

WOW! What an absolutely wonderful project to work on. I have had the privilege of reading scores of delightfully wicked and well-crafted stories. NICE JOB!!! The pre-orders have been steady as well.

I have received a good number of submissions from people who have been personally touched by cancer, and that has made this anthology even more worth it.

We have had stories written by Nate Kenyon, Steve Vernon, and Stephen Mark Rainey as well.

I want to thank all of your for your support on this project. I endeavored to select those stories that fit the theme of the anthology, as well as select a nice variety as well. Having said that, I found a number of stories that offered different perspectives on classic rural myths and monsters. Very cool.

So, with the exception of a couple of last minute submissions to read, and a rewrite or two, Northern Haunts is now CLOSED to submissions.

Congrats to all of you. If you have any personal questions about why or why not your submission was/was not selected, please contact me via PM or email.

I will post the table of contents this week.

The stories have begun to be funneled to one of my talented assistant editors, Christa, for her delicate line editing touch, and she has begun to get them back to me.

All that will remain is the typesetting and the printing.

I PROMISE that this will all be done as very quickly as I am able. The worst thing I can do now is take your beautiful work and fail to give it the respect it deserves by rushing the last part of this process.

Not only will this book be available through a few international and national distribution services, but I am going to really push to get it into New Englnd gift shops and independent bookstores as well.

It will, of course, be available through all of the major online outlets to include Amazon, BN.com, Target.com, as well as others.

Fantastic JOB everyone!

Congrats to all of the writers, and especially Tim for doing an outstanding

Awesome. I can't wait to see it and start showing it off around town. I got a radio interview coming up soon to talk about it and all the cancer crap that I had to deal with last year, so I really can't say just how excited I am about this project without ranting.

Awesome job, Tim! Trust me, as a father of a three 1/2 and one 1/2 year olds, with a new school year teaching coming up and grad school starting this week, (even though it's a bit of a cheat, being an MA in Creative Writing), I understand well the concept of juggling.

Man oh man, I'm getting antsy for this. Any rough speculation on a release date yet?

To-date:

Northern haunts is all edited, thanks to Christa Miller who did an outstanding professional job for a song!

Layout/typesetting has begun. I work on it a little everyday among other projects. I am trying to get it done and to the printers by the end of the month.

I totally understand your anticipation. Pre-orders for this have been awesome, so I want to get it into your hands asap!

I know it's crazy busy but is there any word on when we'll see the ToC? I'd like to put up a blog with it to help promote and hopefully encourage more sales.
There is too much artsy talk about death. The knife severs the artery to your heart and you die. There is nothing beautiful in that -- just ask the guy who has the clean it up after you've pumped a bucket of red syrup out of your body.

Excellent to hear things are coming along with it so nicely. Also, have any of the contracts been sent out yet? I just want to make sure my e-mail didn't eat anything important without my knowledge.

Everyone!

Go to either the 'News and Blog' section of Shroud's website or go to Shroud's MySpace page under the 'Blog' section and you can lay your eyes on the TOC for the much anticipated anthology of 2008 and 2009...Northern Haunts!!!

God speed.
