I did it in person since I was out, near B&N, and actually wanted to pickup a copy of the 'zine. They did not have it, so I tracked someone down and asked them to look it up. They said that they would place some sort of request in their system for that location to carry Shroud. This was Yesterday (6/3) around 6:30pm.

I'm hitting my local Borders on Saturday.

Not an entry for the contest, but...
There are a couple of hidden contributors (of artwork, Patrick Clare and Thomas Knudson) who live in Las Vegas. Three stores supposedly will carry it there, so I passed on info. They're supposedly calling, but anyone else in the Vegas area, join in and call the 3 locations there! They're located at W. Charleston, Maryland Parkway, and N. Rainbow Blvd.

Living proof that Shroud Magazine (issue 6) haunts Pittsburgh! Available at both South Hills and Monroeville B&N locations.

Ok, you guys are seriously kicking some ass... HUGE thanks from me for your inquiries. I knew I did not need to even have a contest to enlist your help as you all have been supportive since the beginning. I am so pumped to see some new faces participating as well. Thank you all, really!

Sheldon, you are my brother!!! Thanks man.

Keep it up guys, way to rock n roll!

Hi everyone! It's my first time posting here. My name's Nancy; I think I know a few a you from one or two other message boards and a few events.

I called two stores today, the B&N in Towson, MD and the B&N at the Powerplant in downtown Baltimore.

The one in Towson said that none have been shipped yet. When I asked when they might expect them in I was told that they don't know when they come in, the magazines are just shipped to them as they come out.

The one in downtown said that they don't get that magazine (!!). I asked if they were sure and told them it was a lit magazine, I was told that they were familiar with it, but that they don't stock it.

Makes me very sad.

BTW, have you tried getting it stocked at Atomic in MD? They're a great independent and they carry a lot of magazines, like Doorways.

I'm really bummed out.

I was in batesville, AR this weekend, went to:

Hastings #9737 Batesville AR 72501 2340 Harrison St

And did not find it, I then asked one of the ladies working there, she brought it up in her computer system, they has 2 on hand.

She went to the back to find it, 15 minutes later came back out and told me they scrapped it.

I asked her what that means, she stated, they tore the cover off to send it back for credit and tossed out the rest of the magazine.

What the hell? They got it 2 days prior and decided to destroy it? What the hell?

On my way back home I stopped at the store in my home town;

Barnes & Noble #2182 N Little Rock AR 72116 4000 McCain Blvd

They did not have it on the shelf, but did have it in their system (they actually had it in their system last week when I went in and told me they would probably have it in a couple of days).

However, the guy looking it up stated it was not a magazine they were going to carry.

Again, What the hell?

I've only been going in there twice a week for the past two MONTHS asking for it!

bah!

They also called the other B&N in my area and they are not going to carry it either.

Seriously, what the hell.

I did however, spam the crap out of Shroud Magazine on my radio show last night. Gave it lots of good words and told everyone listening (probably only 4 people) to go and stalk their bookstore until they stocked it. I also made mention of this contest on air.

That blows Brian, but I have a ray of good news.

Hell yeah! Shroud in Boston (the 800 Boylston location). It looked like they had 5 copies on the self.
I took a picture in the store on my camera phone but I realized when I got home that I don't have the cable. Forgive the webcam grab.

Booyah! I'll keep checking back to see how its selling...maybe grab some gift copies.

I just linked the site and store list on my blog, along with a plea for people to call/buy. I don't think I have too many readers, but hopefully that will grab some attention in different parts of the country.

Adam: Very cool that you got your issues. Go Boston! Go Sox!! Go ahead and read my story in your issue. Tell me your thoughts. If they're good post them here. If they're bad then keep them to yourself. LOL! :D

At the location by my house they have ONE (as of Saturday) copy left out of the five or six they had on the shelf on last Thursday. Not bad. In 3 days they sold all but one. Yay! Tomorrow, I'll personally check and see if that one copy is gone or not.

I'm not sure about the Monroeville Mall location. I'd have to call them to see how many issues are left. They're about 25 minutes away. The one by my house is 10 maybe 15 minutes away.

Tim: There's an independent store here in the 'burgh called Eides. The place is awesome. Only second to Ameoba's Music out in L.A. (Awesome place!) Anyway, they have three levels. Very top is movies of everything imaginable. Books. Comics. New stuff. Old stuff. Hard to find stuff. You name it they got it. The second level is any and all music ever recorded. Just about. Shirts. Posters. More magazines. The bottom is nothing but comics! Toys. Rare. New. Old.

This would be an awesome place to get Shroud into. Anyone who is anyone who lives or comes to Pittsburgh visits the store. Seriously. Famous people are in there a lot because a lot of films are made here every year. Musicians, Bands go there to shop or do signings.

The last time I was in there I ran into Tom Savini. The Wizard of Gore himself. For those who don't know who Savini is then look him up on IMDB. He is known for his makeup FX but does more acting these days.

If you want the number I can give it to you or I can talk to someone there.

Feel free to call Hastings in Batesville, I'd love to hear what they have to say to you.

HASTINGS
2340 HARRISON STREET
BATESVILLE AR, 72501
(870) 793-0002

I'll be honest, I don't think the girl that was "helping" me knew a damn thing about what she was talking about. This is the conversation as best I can recall:

Me: I'm looking for a new magazine that I understand was supposed to be in this past Friday, it's called Shroud Magazine.

Her: I see it in our system, it says we have 2, but I don't recall seeing it when we were stocking earlier, it's possible it was scrapped.

Me: It would be a new issue that just came in.

Her: Let's take a look on the shelves.

(we look, don't find it)

Her: I'll go look in the back.

(I wander around for about 15 minutes)

Her: Yeah, it looks like it's been scrapped.

Me: Scrapped? What does that mean?

Her: We remove the cover and ship it back to get credit for it, and we throw away the inside.

Me: But you just got the magazine a couple of days ago.

Her: Oh no, this is the May, June issue, we've had it for over a month now.

(this is my first clue that she is 100% clueless)

Me: But it was just shipped from the distributor to this store this past week. It's not even been off the printer's dock for more than 10 days.

Her: Well, we were talking about it last week, one of the guys was showing it to us, and since we don't have it, it must have been scrapped.

Me: Okay, thank you for your time.

(I then left).

But I saw their computer screen and it showed 2 in stock. If they did indeed "scrap" it one would think they would take it out of inventory. But I really get the feeling that the lady had no clue what she was talking about.

I called my local B&N and spoke to another guy who told me that it looked like to him that they had not yet received the magazine but that he suspects that it should be in this upcomming week.

I swear, are these guys all idots or something? I mean, I've never run across a more clueless lot. I realize it's a magazine, and I realize they are all working a non-career position, but 'come on!

I just want my damn magazine!

k, I'm done ranting.
