New Columnist, NEW CONTEST!

Postby shroud on Mon Oct 20, 2008 3:35 pm

Great news! I have decided to work with a very talented editor and writer, Michael Knost in order to showcase the work of up and coming writers.

MICHAEL KNOST

Michael Knost is an author, editor, and columnist in the horror and dark fiction genres.

Image

He has written several books and dozens of short stories, edited a number of anthologies, including the Legends of the Mountain State series, and he currently writes a column for Shroud Magazine.

He is currently working on a project entitled Writers Workshop of Horror, a collection of writing articles by the industry's biggest names, including Joe R. Lansdale, Ramsey Campbell, and many more.

He is also working on his newest novel, set around a haunted coal mine in southern West Virginia.

Michael has worked in the radio, television, and newspaper industries, and currently lives in Logan, West Virginia with his beautiful wife, eight-week-old daughter, and neurotic dog.

NEW PROJECT FOR SHROUD

Michael Knost will begin a new column for Shroud Magazine in the coming issues. Each column will focus on an outstanding up-and-comer of the genre . . . followed by an original story by that same author.

Send submissions to: michael@shroudmagazine.com

Pay is three-cents per word.

Word count should be between 500 and 3,000.

Must meet all other guidelines at: http://www.shroudmagazine.com/info.html

THE CONTEST

We are having a contest to find the perfect title for the column. The person who comes up with the column name we use will win a free subscription to the magazine and signed copies of Legends of the Mountain State 1 and 2.

Send all contest entries to: michael@shroudmagazine.com

Deadline is November 1, 2008

As a phonetic guide, Knost is pronounced as Nost (with the K silent)
and sounding similar to Lost or Cost.

WINNERS announced: Michael Knost Column!

After going over a ton of contest entries to find the name of the new column in Shroud Magazine, we have a winner . . . In fact, we have three winners!

For those just hearing about it, I will write a column for Shroud
Magazine, focusing on an up-and-comer in the horror industry with a
short story from that artist following.

The winners are:

Ray Turner

The winning title . . . ProgKNOSTications.

Each of these winners will receive a free subscription to Shroud
Magazine and signed copies of Legends of the Mountain State 1 and 2.

And speaking of the column, Nate Southard will be featured in the next
