Most economical way of printing out large 1st and 2nd drafts

Writing in general and suggestions on writing for Shroud.

Most economical way of printing out large 1st and 2nd drafts

Postby Todd Castillo on Wed Feb 11, 2009 1:11 am

So what would you recommend? Is my best bet to just invest in a great big laser printer? Or maybe there is a place to print I can bring the .doc file and print (for a good price...Kinko's fails at that)
I've done a little research, but I thought it would serve as a good resource being in this forum.

I don't have anything REALLY long (max is 80k words) but I would like to make a few copies for others to read over.

So how do you all approach this part of the writing (and editing) process? :?:

Todd,

You could explore an on-demand printer like LuLu, etc and print out uncorrected proofs relatively cheaply. Some of these allow you to upload your files online. Then you can see what your book is going to look like and so will others when they read it.

That's a great idea, Tim! I'm nearing the end of my novel (3rd draft) and wanted to send it to a few close friends (Shaun Ryan, Ben Eads, etc.) for their feedback, and a proof copy would be a sweet route! Thanks, Lee

I've done the lulu thing before, and it worked very well.
