An American novelist and short story writer. He has sold over 150 stories in the mystery, horror, erotica, and science fiction fields. Piccirilli has been a final nominee for the World Fantasy Award and won the first Bram Stoker Award given in the category of Outstanding Achievement in Poetry.

Stephen Mark Rainey
Author of Dark Shadows: Dreams of the Dark (co-written with Elizabeth Massie, HarperCollins, 1999, based on the gothic soap opera Dark Shadows), Balak (Wildside Press, 2000), The Lebo Coven (Thomson Gale, 2004), The Nightmare Frontier (Sarob Press, 2006), and Blue Devil Island (Thomson Gale, 2007). His other published works include over 90 short stories and three short-story collections. He has also edited three anthologies, including Deathrealms, 2004, and a tribute to Edgar Allan Poe titled Evermore (Arkham House, 2006, with James Robert Smith).
