Hello everyone!
My name is Ginger and I'm from a little dump called Racine, Wisconsin. I've been elsewhere but somehow seem to keep getting pulled back here; I think it's a curse. I'm thirty-one years old, married to a temperamental son of a gun who collects vintage straight-razors, and I have one child, she'll be fourteen this year. (If you're doing the math, yep, I had her young. Nice 16th birthday surprise!) My kid is awesome; she appreciates all types of music, (unfortunately "emo" music is her favorite right now) as well as older punk rock, (That was my influence) her favorite holiday is Halloween, she loves reading and writing, and has a great love for animals.
I've been in college for about three years now for Clinical Laboratory Technology, but I plan to migrate over to the veterinary area in time. (I help with local animal shelters often and do what I can as an animal advocate; that's where my heart is.) I've got three dogs, all Pit Bull Terriers, and they are some charmers, I tell ya. One is as mellow as can be and can be found sleeping most of the time, one has a disturbing obsession with food, and the last one is the "pack-leader"; of course she's also the smallest one with the biggest mouth.
I have aspirations to move to at least a more rural area; I hate living in the city (even though it's a small one) and I am admittedly a bit of a recluse. I would love to have even a few acres of land one day and a couple highland cows. I adore those guys!
A far as writing goes, I've been doing so since I was a kid, but I started getting serious about it around four or five years ago. Recently I was chosen in the honorable mentions for the second Myspace flash fiction contest, and I was beyond ecstatic! Can't wait for issue #3! :D
A few of my favorite writers are Bentley Little, Brian Keene, Margaret Atwood, Jack Ketchum, and Richard Laymon, among others.
Alright, sorry for rambling, I'll be off to go check out the rest of this good-looking forum now.
Have a great weekend guys!

I just did the same thing on another board, don't worry about it.

I was just at the Milwaukee Massacre, were you able to make it? Welcome aboard.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it to the Milwaukee Massacre; I had prior arrangements dealing with my kid and her LOUD friends. Was there a good turn-out there?

Nope, we got flooded out. It turned dark as midnight around 4:30 and the tornado siren went off.

I'm not sure conventions where horror is mixed with metal bands is a good mix. At least for authors and magazines. The crowd that was there didn't seem all that enamored with the written word.

The bands were good though.

I'm thinking, not such a good idea unless your someone like Rob Zombie. After reading more about that convention, it seemed kind of all over the place.

Nathaniel-
Haha! My kid's friends are terrified of the dolls. So this means I have to torment them, especially If the kids are sleeping over. I enjoy making up stories like this; "the child who last had this doll burned to death in a fire. The woman who sold me the doll thinks it's possessed by the dead girl. Sometimes you can see her late at night, all burnt up and moaning for her doll..." From there the kids are usually crapping their pants. I think scaring kids builds their character. Anyone want me to babysit sometime? :D

Ha! Dolls are great horror material. I got a fun short story I'll have to toss you sometime called "Friend" about a little girl, a doll, and something under a bed.

Two of the creepiest things in the world. Little kids giggling in the middle of the night, and dolls just doing absolutely nothing. If they move, you can at least go "Ah, okay, evil doll", but it's the waiting to see if it'll do anything that really sucks.

Haha, yes, kids giggling in the middle of the night is definitely creepy. I remember when my kid was about three years old, I heard her in the middle of the night talking and laughing. Me and my significant other just bickered back and forth, saying, "uh uh, I'm not going in there, you go in there."
creepy stuff indeed.
I'd love to read that story, sounds neat-o! :D
